20" x 4.5" Activated Coconut Carbon Block Water Filter with Scale Inhibitor - High Flow Filtration for Whole House and Commercial Systems

The BG-20CS coconut shell carbon block filter cartridge is a premium 20 inch carbon filter that reduces harmful chemicals and pesky particulates. It also contains corrosion and scale inhibitor product that will remove existing scale deposits, prevent scale, and stop corrosion.

Coconut shell carbon block technology is an eco-friendly and renewable resource for water purification. A carbon block filter provides better contaminant removal than a granular activated carbon filter (GAC filter). The BG-20CS is a high performance coconut shell carbon block filter providing an outstanding flow rate of 20 gallons per minute, and 80,000 gallon capacity. It will fit standard filter housings made for 4.5″ x 20″ replacement cartridges.

Please refer to your unit’s manual for specific instructions. General guidance for replacing a water filter cartridge is as follows:

1. Turn off the water supply: Locate the main water valve. Turn it clockwise to shut off the water supply.

2. Release pressure: Depress the red button on the top of the unit to release pressure.

3. Remove the old cartridge: Place a bucket under the filter housing to catch any water spills. Slide the filter wrench up towards the head and turn it to the left to unscrew the housing. Carefully remove the housing and take out the old filter cartridge.

4. Clean the housing: Wipe the inside of the housing clean.

5. Insert the new cartridge: Place the new filter cartridge into the housing.

6. Lubricate the O-ring: Apply a small amount of lubricant to the O-ring to ensure a good seal.

7. Reassemble the housing: Screw the housing back onto the head by turning it to the right.

8. Turn on the water supply: Turn the main water valve counterclockwise to restore the water supply.

9. Check for leaks: Open a faucet to let the water run and check for any leaks around the housing.

What contaminants does this filter remove?

The filter removes chlorine, chloramine, VOCs, sediment, and other particles down to 5 microns. Also helps prevent scale buildup and corrosion.

How often do I need to replace this water filter?

Once per year. More frequent replacement may be needed depending on incoming water quality and usage.

How does the scale inhibitor work?

The Siliphos scale control product forms a protective layer on metal surfaces, preventing scale buildup and corrosion.
